Consultation response on proposals to overhaul sexual offences law
This is the Equality Network's response to the Scottish Government's consultation on major changes to rape and other sexual offences laws.
Early in 2008, the Scottish Government consulted on major changes to sexual offences laws in Scotland. The proposals for new legislation were drawn up by the Scottish Law Commission. One aim of the proposed legislation is to eliminate the remaining discrimination in sex offences law on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity.
You can find the details of the Scottish Government's consultation here. The consultation ended on March 14th 2008, and sometime in 2008 (perhaps as early as May) the Government are expected to introduce a Sexual Offences (Scotland) Bill in the Scottish Parliament.
Attached below you can find the consultation response submitted by the Equality Network.
