Consultation response on missives for new-build houses
This is the Equality Network's short response to MSP Helen Eadie's consultation on proposed new rules for contracts for buying newly-built houses.
At present in Scotland, developers of newly built houses do not guarantee buyers an entry date. Sometimes there are delays in finishing the build, and buyers can end up spending large sums of money on temporary accommodation and other costs, while they wait to move into their new home. Helen Eadie, Labour MSP for Dunfermline East, consulted on a proposed bill to require developers of new houses to guarantee an entry date to buyers, and to cover buyers' costs if that date is missed.
