Consultation response on the Census 2011
This is a response that the Equality Network submitted to a consultation on the national Census planned for 2011.

The General Register Office for Scotland (GROS) conduct the Census in Scotland, every 10 years. The Equality Network and other LGBT groups in Scotland have been campaigning for the next Census, in 2011, to include a question on sexual orientation. This would be a voluntary question, for people aged 16 and over only.

In spring 2007, GROS issued a consultation on the 2011 Census. The Equality Network's response is attached below.
