This section of the website is about the Equality Network's policy project - a project which aims to analyse policy and legislation from a LGBT perspective, to assist the Scottish Government, public bodies and LGBT communities. The project is funded by the Scottish Government Equality Unit. The policy project coordinator is Tim Hopkins.
The policy project works to deliver greater equality in national laws and policies, in areas which LGBT people say are priorities. We also keep an eye on proposed changes to any area of national law and policy, to ensure that these are consistent with LGBT equality and human rights.
The project helps LGBT people to have a voice in national law and policy. Through the Equality Network's network, which you can join here, we publicise consultations being done by the Government or Parliament, and other opportunities to have a say.
This part of the website includes:
A policy priorities section, which describes the main issues we are working on which LGBT people have told us are priorities.
A policy actions section (currently being refurbished!), which describes any consultations on issues related to LGBT equality, and other ways you can have a say in national law and policy.
A policy briefings section, which includes all the written briefings and submissions that the Equality Network makes to policy makers.
A policy manifesto section, which is our manifesto for the Scottish Parliament for 2007-11, based on consultation with LGBT communities in 2006-7
A policy manifesto meter section, which shows how far we have come since we published our previous manifesto for the Scottish Parliament, in 2003.
