Civil Partnership Ceilidh - Celebrating the first anniversary
The Civil Partnership Act became law on 5th December 2005. Since then almost a thousand couples in Scotland have joined in civil partnership. The Equality Network, Stonewall Scotland, and LGBT Youth Scotland invite everyone who wants to celebrate to a ceilidh on 16th December at 7pm in City Chambers, High Street, Edinburgh.
This ceilidh, held in the glamorous City Chambers on the High Street, Edinburgh, is for anybody who wants to celebrate the passing of the Act – not just civil partners! For only £5 you get:
- the dulcet tones of the Robert Fish Band
- the freestyling antics of DJs Fabulous Les and Semtextgirl from radioasbo.org
- a free slice of wedding cake!
The party begins at 7pm. If you arrive in good time, you may get to see the celebratory cake before it's cut. Cash bar. Party on until 1am. Messages of support from the leaders of all the major political parties in Scotland will be read out during the ceilidh.
Tickets cost £5, available from the Equality Network office or at the door on the evening. You can download the booking form from here and post it to us with cheque or postal order, or just write to us with the number of tickets you want (cheque or postal order made payable to the Equality Network).
Update, 13th December: It’s now too late to post tickets out to people and be sure they’ll receive them before Saturday. You can still post us a cheque/postal order and ask us to hold tickets for you in your name on the door, or drop past the Equality Network office to pick your tickets up in person. Or else arrive early at the ceilidh and buy your ticket on the door.
Update, 18th December: The ceilidh raised £680 and was a very successful evening. Thanks to all who attended, and all who sent messages of support.
