Policy and Campaigns

policyThe Equality Network works for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality and human rights.

A key part of this is working to improve public policy and leading campaigns for LGBT equality in Scotland.

Since we were founded in 1997 we have based all of our work on the priorities of LGBT people in Scotland. We do this by regularly consulting and working with diverse LGBT communities across the country.

Over the past 16 years life in Scotland has improved significantly for LGBT people. We are proud to have led successful campaigns to secure equal rights for LGBT people in the law, from the repeal of Section 28  to our current campaign for Equal Marriage.

Current work

Our biggest priorities for policy work are summarised in our manifesto for the 2011-2016 session of the Scottish Parliament.

We will shortly be publishing the results of our recent Time for Change consultation, on the future priorities of LGBT people across Scotland.

Our policy work is partly funded by the Scottish Government, for whom we act as a strategic intermediary, while our campaigning work is completely funded by your donations.

If you would like to find out more about how you can get involved in our policy and campaigns work please contact Tom French, our Policy Coordinator on tom@equality-network.org
