Protest: LGBT Human Rights Abuses in Russia

9 August 2013 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Protest LGBT Human Rights Abuses

On the 11th of June Russia’s State Duma (Parliament) passed unanimously legislation that imposes harsh fines and jail terms for the distribution of homosexual “propaganda” to minors. This, along with laws requiring human rights organisations who receive support from abroad to register as ‘foreign agents’, has let to grave and systematic LGBT human rights violations in the country. Fines for breaking the new laws can be up to 1 million rubles, or about £20,500.

Recent developments have seen anti-gay thugs taking to social media to lure LGBT people to meetings where they are violently beaten and abused. These events are then recorded and shared on the internet by the thugs. The victims then have no place to go for help.

Please come and stand with us for LGBT Human Rights and Equality in Russia. Lets show the LGBT Community in Russia that we support them and demonstrate to Russia and the world that LGBT rights are human rights.

**If you can’t make it along to the protest but would like to help. Urge the British Government to speak out.**
