OutdoorLads is a nationwide social group for gay, bisexual and trans men to get together and enjoy outdoor activities. They organise hiking, camping, climbing, hostelling, biking, canoeing, sailing and skiing events as well as one-off international trips and more hard-core ‘challenge’ events such as trips to the Alps and Everest Base Camp. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a total beginner or an outdoor enthusiast – there’s something for everyone! Whatever the event you’ll find a group of friendly, welcoming guys with a shared love of the great outdoors.

The core range of guys are around 25-45 but people of any age are welcome to go on trips, provided they’re over 18. It’s mostly gay and bi guys, with a couple of gay friendly straight lads. The group regularly has leisurely day walks over the weekends for those who just fancy a different way to socialise and get out of the city and also overnight camping or hostel weekends. They also run hundreds of indoor and outdoor climbing events all across the UK. The group also has some more extreme activities for those wanting to push themselves. Members always make an effort to help new people on trips feel welcome. Many people feel a bit nervous on their first event but are usually surprised with how quickly they settle in.

There are over thousand events run every year, up and down the country. Also, there are three big events every year: the ‘Big Spring Camp’ usually over the late May Bank Holiday, the ‘Big Summer Camp’ in August, and the increasingly popular ‘Halloween Camp’. These special events typically have a few hundred people camping together, doing a range of events during the day and partying in the evening. In the past the group has had caving, skydiving, kayaking, white water rafting, climbing expeditions, and abseiling events as well as BBQ’s, DJ’s and bars in the evening. All events are organised by experienced volunteer leaders.
