Ace Week 2025

Ace Week, formerly Asexual Awareness Week, is an international campaign to raise awareness and expand education about the asexuality spectrum.

Ace identities are often missed or excluded from LGBTQI+ inclusion. Sadly we’ve seen a resurgence in ace-erasure and acephobia recently.

This Ace Awareness Week we encourage allies to learn how to recognise and challenge this when you witness it. Speaking out helps to educate others and make environments more inclusive for all of us.

Top things to know about ace identities:-

• Ace people belong in our LGBTQIA+ communities.
• Being ace is not the same as celibacy, low libido or sexual dysfunction.
• Being ace is a spectrum. Some ace people do engage in sexual activity for a variety of reasons.
• Ace people can and do form strong long lasting personal relationships, whether romantic or platonic.
• Ace people who have marginalised identities such as through race or disability may face additional barriers.

How to be a good ace ally

• If someone comes out to you as ace, believe them.
• Remember to mention ace when you’re talking about LGBTQIA+ inclusion
• Include an option for asexual if you are asking people about their sexuality
• Don’t ask intrusive questions about ace people’s sex lives.

Remember, true allyship means listening, learning and making space for ace voices. By recognising ace identities and challenging misconceptions, you can help create communities where ace people feel seen, respected and valued.
