Financial hardships

Financial hardships and employment instability affected many bi+ individuals during the pandemic. Job losses, reduced working hours, and economic uncertainties exacerbated existing inequalities, especially for those who already faced marginalisation due to their sexual orientation and/or gender. These factors made it especially difficult for people to support themselves and their friends.

“I was supporting LGBTQ+ friends, including bi people, who had to move back in with their parents (some of them despite being in their thirties) and felt uncomfortable either because they were not out or because they were out but disapproved of.”

“The pandemic forced me to move back in with my homophobic/transphobic parents, as I had just graduated from uni when it started and all of the entry level jobs disappeared seemingly overnight.”
